Hello, my name is Elizabeth Davis and I am proud to say that I have just reached my 30th wedding anniversary!
I am a mother of three and grew up and studied fashion and textile design in the UK. Relocating to Australia, I lectured at University and continued to create and exhibit my works of art in Victoria and overseas. I am now a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant with a professional background as a school teacher, university lecturer, workplace trainer and assessor.
The initial spark of interest in becoming a celebrant was when it became necessary to interview a celebrant to conduct my mother's funeral, many years ago. I remember very clearly when this particular celebrant arrived at my home; she made such a strong impression when asking the relevant questions on getting to know my mother's life story, the immediate family and our very good friends. I found her approach extremely comforting at such a sad time; she truly hit the right cords! After she left I sat back with an exclamation of 'what an awesome job!' And it was probably about a year later that I began to explore the possibility of actually becoming a celebrant and to understand the involvement and what was expected to qualify for excellence and registration within the community. Hence I signed myself up, studied like crazy and fell in love with my new world of meeting people and creating unique ceremonies...in particular weddings!
My career in art and design, with a speciality in beading bridal gowns, steers me into another depth of wedding day appreciation. I just love the wow factor (nearly as much as the groom!) to see the bride make her dramatic entrance into the setting of the ceremony. The colours flowing from the bridal party, gowns and shoes through to flowers, often overwhelms me and the excitement of observing such proud families waiting in anticipation. Every ceremony is totally unique! With an interest in gardening, the outdoors provides me with an affinity for every venue I have the pleasure to visit. Assisting in the choreographing of the ultimate experience with a keen eye for visually attractive backdrops and appropriate weather options to suit the season. I seek to become involved in the preparation, with one important factor to instil upon my clients...to thoroughly enjoy the journey within all the necessary planning, the attention to detail and an experience that is unique to every dream wedding day.
As a celebrant, I feel I have achieved my dream job with a deep passion and adventure which allows me to apply my warm, friendly nature to everyone I meet. I see this profession as an extension of my career path in which I have my lovely Mum to thank for giving me this special gift and direction of becoming a successful celebrant.
